Chrysler Repair: chrysler 300, 2005 chrysler 300, socket pins

Question
Hi - I have a 2005 chrysler 300 with 90,000 miles. recently while driving the all the gages in the instrument panel will go to zero, as if the car was turned off - there won't be any difference in acceleration  its all electrical.  it only lasts a few seconds, but it will do it off and on several times.  it could go days without happening, and then on one trip it will happen 10 times in a row.  if the headlights are on, they don't dim at all, but if the air conditioning is on, it doesn't work.  if i pull over while its happening and turn the car off and restart it then its fine.  I also pressed the trip and reset buttons while i started the car and got this code - 3 -61.  i don't know if that was a good idea because now i can't get rid of it!  can you help with that too?  Thank YOU

Answer
Hi Bev,
Unfortunately I don't have an '05 manual but it may just be a loose connection of the digital data wire at the printed circuit board of the cluster. Removing the cluster and heating up the solder joints of the plug socket pins where they attach to the board would be the solution, using a soldering iron. Again, for lack of a manual I can't tell you the details.
