Chrysler Repair: ABS Brake Light 1997 Chrysler Concorde, 1997 chrysler concorde, master brake cylinder

Question
The ABS brake light and trac off light began coming on a few days ago.  Now when I drive as soon as I brake the brakes immediately start to vibrate.  Any suggestions??

Answer
Hi Carrie,
Have you checked the brake fluid level? That could be low due to a leak. The ABS system is designed to ride 'on top' of the normal brakes, so when something goes wrong with the ABS the system should just revert to a non-abs type response, not vibrating response. So it could be your basic brake system needs fluid or has some other issue. You might also try to get a fault code readout for free at an Autozone parts store,  which would give you a 4-digit number that might give a clue. But start by checking the fluid reservoirs on the master brake cylinder which is under the hood, at the firewall, right in front of where the brake pedal sits. There are two caps for the separate reservoirs.
