Chrysler Repair: 96 T & C:speedometer/lights/gauges/locks, car wash water, electronic circuit board

Question
my 96 town & country speedometer and gas indicators are not working. The lights of the vehicle used to turn on by themselves and the doors should lock automatically. what could be the problem? could it be the body control module.

Answer
Hi Ignacio,
Yes the problem could be centered in the Body Computer because all those issues pass through it. My suspicion is that it may have gotten wet due to rain/car wash water leaking in from the lower edge of the windshield and dripping down, which can cause internal short circuits. Rather than buying a new computer my suggestion would be to check out this theory (do you get any water on the floor mat on the driver side below the dash)? You can remove the fuse box/computer which are interlocked together mechanically (remove both from mounting, disconnect plugs/remove screws holding them together and slide apart to expose interface) then spray the interface connections and all the plugs and sockets with electronic circuit board cleaner which will clean away crud and evaporate water. Get circuit board cleaner in a spray can at electronics supply store.
Another approach would be to get a fault code readout for free at an Autozone parts store. Let me know the fault codes and we can go from there.
