Chrysler Repair: Key Fobs: programming additional fobs, chrysler sebring, remote keyless entry

Question
QUESTION: I have two key fobs from a Chrysler 300M that has been salvaged, I also have a Chrysler Sebring that has the same fobs, can these be programmed to work the Sebring?  If so, HOW?

ANSWER: Hi Judy,
Up to 4 key fobs (remote keyless entry transmitters) can be programmed into the remote keyless entry module. You didn't mention the year of either car so I can't be sure if this reprogramming can be done by using one of the existing fobs to initiate the programming function or whether a dealer will have to do it with a diagnostic readout box. Let me know the model years of both cars and whether the Sebring is a convertible or a sedan and I will try to determine whether you can do it yourself or not, and if so I will tell you how to do it. Also locate a model number on the salvaged fobs, and let me know what that is if it is not identical to the existing working fobs. By the way, the third and forth fobs will not be able to be programmed to preset mirror/seat settings, only the first two fobs are capable of doing that, if the Sebring has that feature already.

QUESTION: The salvaged key fobs are from a 1999 Chrysler 300M, the Sebring is a 2004. The sebring does not have the mirror/seat setting feature.  Just didn't want to throw them away if they could be used in the Sebring

Answer
HI Judy,
Here is the procedure for programming the fobs:
Using a functional fob, unlock the vehicle and disarm the system (unlocking should also disarm it).
Insert key to ignition switch
Turn the key to the run position without starting the engine
Using a functional fob, press and hold the unlock button for a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 seconds
Before the 10 seconds has elapsed and while still holding the unlock button press the Panic button and then release both buttons at the same time. A single chime will sound indicating the module is ready to receive the new fob access code.
Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the lock and unlock buttons on the new fob of the new fob and then release them. Then press and release any one of the buttons on the new fob. An abbreviated chime will sound which indicates the new fob has been accepted.
To do another new fob, simply repeat beginning at: "within 30 seconds...." The programming mode will last for 30 seconds after you finish programming a fob, so if you don't do the second one soon enough go back to the start. Just turn off the key to also end the programming mode and no further fobs will be accepted unless you go back to the beginning.
Then check out whether the new fobs have been entered in the system by trying them out.
This procedure is from the '02 minivan manual, so it should apply.
Please let me know if it works.
