Chrysler Repair: 2.7L V-6: still backfiring: code 0320, crank pulley, crank sensor

Question
QUESTION: Ok, i have a 1999 Concorde 2.7L.I replaced the water pump. Then the car started to backfire. I then went back and fixed the timing chain(i believe) because it was off. I have new spark plugs and those are install correctly. What could be the reason my car is still backfiring? I went to start it yesterday, and my friend who was looking under the hood, said they saw a flame. What is going on???

ANSWER: Hi Keke,
That sounds to me like your valves are not timed properly to the pistons/ignition.
Are the timinig marks: with crank sprocket mark at mark on oil pump and with single marked link at crank sprocket mark, right side (passenger) with other single link on cam mark. left side with double link centered on cam sprocket?
If so, or:
Alternatively, check compression on all cylinders: it should be somewhere around 100 psi (if the engine were warm, but certainly should be in that range, though less than 100 if cold). That would be another check of your valve timing.
Is it possible that in the recent past the valve timing was way off so as to have resulted in valve interference and resulting valve damage?

QUESTION: ok roland i did a code readout on my car..i got ode P0340...so what exactly should i be looking at and how to we fix it so i can have my car running again?

ANSWER: Hi Keke,
That code says the cam sensor signal is not present at the PCM.
You might do well to check the plug (left driver cylinder bank about where the cam sprocket would be positioned) and verify the wires from the plug to the pcm: orange to pin 44, tan/yellow to pin 33,
and gray/black to 32. You should have 8v on the orange with the key 'on', and when you hand rotate the engine via the crank pulley you should see the voltage between the tan/yellow and gray/black to vary between 5V and 0.3V. If that all is good then pcm could be bad (but you would expect a code for that) or the crank sensor could be bad (but you would expect an p320 for that).

QUESTION: ok well roland we corrected all of that...the p0340 code is gone, but the car still does not start! im soo frustrated. am i missing something? its not backfiring or anything like that..it wants to start but cant. its not turning over

Answer
Did you recheck the timing and also how about a compression check? Have you checked for spark? Are you hearing the fuel pump run for about 1 second when you turn the key to the 'run' position? Those are the questions that, based upon the history, would be relevant.
