QUESTION: Ok, so I made an appointment to have a diagnostic scan run on Monday but last night I drove the car up the road and back and the service engine soon light went out so what should I do.  I've heard that it will go out if no problem is again detected and also that the scanner won't pick anything up if the light is not on.  Please help.  Thanks

Answer
the codes are stored in the computer for 40 starts after it goes off. IF the light is off the computer was looking for the same issue to happen  and it saw it not happen 3x so it turned it off.  U can have codes scanned for free at places like auto zone and advanced auto.
