Chrysler Repair: 1997 no spark: 2.5L, crankshaft position sensor, fault code reader

Question
QUESTION: time belt good what and where is module located or what else could it be

ANSWER: Hi Gordon,
What is the model/body/engine? '97 is a tougher year to get fault codes from but try the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less. Then watch to see if the check engine light, which remains 'on', begins to flash, pause, flash etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause, then repeat to be sure of an accurate count set. Write back with the counts, in order of appearance, and the vehicle's specifics.
If you don't get any flashing then notice the odometer window to see if any 4-digit codes, preceded by a P take the place of the mileage reading. If neither of these show up, then a readout with a fault code reader inserted in the socket next to the steering column under the dash will be the only way to get a clue as to what is wrong.

QUESTION: the codes are 11 12 55 motor is 2.5 mod is sebring conv did dis connect bat is module in dis or does pcm control all sperk

Answer
Hi Gordon,
That 11 code means the crankshaft position sensor is not putting out a signal that is getting to the pcm. That sensor is located on the firewall side of the powertrain, at the seam between the engine and the transmission, just above the transmission. It is held in by a single screw. Get a new one, lift tab on the connector then release secrew to withdraw the only one. Put the new one in so the tip (with paper still attached) comes in contact with the surface of the hidden flex plate that it 'senses'. While holding in contact, tighten the retaining screw. Then put in plug. You should get spark.
The 12 just says the battery was disconnected recently. The 55 says 'end of readout'.
There is a cam sensor in the distributor and that would cause a 54 code if faulty. Be happy because that would require a new/rebuilt distributor to replace.
