Chrysler Repair: 01 shows done in odometer...why?, system faults, starter relay

Question
My 2001 sebring has a readout on the odometer, says done, all I have ever seen there was the milage and deck, I tried to start it tonight wouldn't turn over then all of a sudden said 'done" then it started like normal.

Answer
Hi Jeff,
In the process of trying the starter, you inadvertantly switched the ignition key on-off-on-off-on and left it in the on position, doing that action in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. That in fact started the process of doing a fault code readout which was completed without finding any engine control system faults, which then was reported to you as the 'done' message. If it had found a fault it would have given you a 4-digit number preceeded by a P, instead of the done message.
It may be that the ignition switch section that activates the starter relay is flaky, or your fingers were a bit tired and you didn't quite move the key to the start position, and thus you accidentally did the fault code readout procedure.
