Chrysler Repair: no bus in odometer: 02 Sebring, chrysler sebring convertible, soldering pencil

Question
I have a 2002 chrysler sebring convertible and am having a problem where, while I am driving all of the gages will go flat (except fuel) and the brake light, abs light, and theft system light will come on, and my odometer says "no buS".  The car still drives fine and nothing really seems out of order other than I have no idea how fast I am going!  What could this possibly be?  An electrical problem, fuse issue, what?  Also, nothing inparticular seems to set this off, it just happens at random while I am driving down the road.  Your answer is thoroughly appreciated, thank you!

Answer
Hi Daron,
I find in the '03 manual, which should be applicable, that the insturment cluster has a 26-pin plug on its back side. On pin 2 of that plug there is a violet/orange wire on which the digital data that provides the information for gauges arrives. This is called the digital data bus. I believe that the solder joint between the socket pin and the circuit board has gotten flaky due to flexing. If you tap on the top of the cluster it may come back on, and this would corroborate my theory.
If you remove the cluster and touch the tip of a soldering pencil to the solder joint it should re-establish a firm connection. I can give you the steps to remove the cluster if you want to do it yourself.
