Chrysler Repair: 3.0L:crank pulley and balancer removal, crankshaft pulley, crank pulley

Question
how do I remove the crankshaft pulley and harmonic balancer off of a 99 plymouth voyager 3.0 liter

Answer
Hi Kenneth,
The Haynes manual for '96-99 minivans shows some useful suggestions on page 2B-6. A local library or a parts store may have this publication, Haynes #30011. In short: jack up the right front, remove the tire/wheel and the inner fender splash shield to gain clear access to the front of the engine. Take off the accessory drive belts. Remove the 6 bolts that hold the pulley to the damper and remove the pulley. Then to remove the center bolt you can either use a chain wrench (after wrapping the edge of the damper with a heavy cloth) to grip the damper while you rotate out the bolt OR fabricate an angle iron length with two holes that are the same spacing as 2 of the 6 bolt holes and attach that angle iron as a lever to the damper, OR go to the rear of the engine and remove the cover plate to the flywheel/drive plate/ring gear and wedge a screwdriver between the ring gear and the trans bell housing so as to lock-up the crank. Once you have the center bolt out, then remove the damper by using a damper/steering wheel type puller that bolts into the hub holes. Don't use an outside jaw type puller on the damper or you will likely damage it.
I hope this is clear enough for you to do this successfully.
