Chrysler Repair: Timing belt broke and all timing lost, mount roland, piston valve

Question
Roland,
Car: 2000 Dodge Caravan 2.4 Liter
Problem: timing belt broke. In process of installing new belts (all), water pump, idler pulleys. I need to make sure the camshafts and crankshaft are in correct position before installing the new belts. When it broke I heard absolutely no noise at all, in fact I didn't know it shut off until I noticed I had nothing by pushing on the gas pedal. Hopefully nothing else is damaged. I just need a procedure to check and get these shafts back into sync.  I also need a procedure to remove the right motor mount.
Roland any help is very appreciated..
Thanks
Noel

Answer
Hi Noel,
The procedure for installing the timing belt is covered on about 4 pages of the manual. While the engine is 'non-interference' as regards the piston/valve interface, it is state that the camshafts should not be moved independently on each other because the valves can interfere with each other and thus be damaged. So if the shafts slowed and stopped in synchrony that may not have occurred, but it will be important to move them simultaneously (and observe if they end up when ready to install the belt in the proper relationship to each other). Do you have a decent manual? If not I can xerox copy and postal mail you pages about any specific aspect of the timing belt install. It costs 10 cents a side plus the postage which you can reimburse me for after you get the pages. I have the '98 and '02 manuals which are identical for the engine but the right mount descriptions are different so I should send you both manuals' page on that item. You might also consider whether the belt could have been damaged by an out of alignment tensioner which may have caused the failure, in which case the tensioner should be replaced (another page or so).
Let me know your wishes and specific repair pages you would like, and provide a postal mailing address should you want the pages.
