Chrysler Repair: 2000 LHS radio: no power, standard radio system, chrysler lhs

Question
pulled your email address from online radio repair blog. My Chrysler LHS radio is out. The CD Changer has power and the lights on the balance, bass and mid slide switches are blinking, but the radio is out. No power, no lights NADA. It was working fine until I had the starter replaced.  If you have any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Fran,
Start by checking for blown/cracked fuse(s). If you have the standard radio system look at fuses #4 and 19 in the fuse box behind the dash. You simply open the door on the driver side and then remove the end cap from the dash panel to access the fuse box. Look at each fuse's internal wire to see if it is blown open or even just has a subtle crack in the wire. The fuses are rated at 10 amp for replacement. If you have the deluxe radio then look at fuse #18 (20 amp) for similar blown/cracked condition. I don't see any logical relationship between the starter replacement and the radio stopping so it may have be co-incidental.
