Chrysler Repair: 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXI, 3.0L O2 sensor, chrysler sebring lxi, 2001 chrysler sebring lxi

Question
I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring LXI,2 dr., 3.0L engine.  I have to replace my O2 sensor and was hoping you could either show me a diagram or explain to me the location of the O2 sensor.  Thnx in advance

Answer
Hi Elwood,
I was unaware that the Sebring used the 3.0L engine, but in any case if the sensor in question is the upstream one, it will be on the side of the exhaust manifold (probably the one close to the front of the car if a V-6) and it looks like a spark plug. It has a 4-wire electrical connector. You would want to soak the threads overnight with penetrating oil before trying to remove it. Then it might also be more easily removed if you ran the engine briefly to warm the manifold. You will want to take care in handling the wires of the replacement unit, and put anti-seize compound on its threads, which is often provided with the unit. Let me know if don't find the sensor, and check again on the size of the engine. There may also be a downstream sensor so let me know the fault code if that is the case so we can distinguish which is bad. The upstream is usual the one that fails first.
