why is there three ground cables?one is small and the other two are the same size and go to different places, one goes to the block, where dose the other one go?

The places depend upon the model/year but in general one goes to the engine block for a solid ground for the starter motor, another goes to the body frame for the return path for the lights and other modules distributed widely around the car and which ground to various parts on the frame/body panels, and one goes to a splice that splits to ground a lot of the engine/transmission control units.
Roland. I would look over the ends of the three that you have in hand and see how they look and decide how to clean them or replace
