Chrysler Repair: 98 plymouth breeze transmission problems:code 0700, plymouth breeze, transmission controller

i am currently having trouble figuring out what the code PO700 Transmission Control System (MIL request)is referring to, do i need to replace the tcm? how may i get this problem fixed?

I have seen discrepent descriptions about this code. If it came from a readout that was based upon using the ignition key to access the codes or via a code reader that was not capable of reading codes from the transmission controller, then it suggests that you need to get a second readout from the transmission controller in order to get a specific second code that give the details of what is the transmission fault (refernce '98 Breeze manual). If on the other hand the code readout was comprehensive and this is the only fault, then it suggests that the transmission controller itself is the problem (reference '00 Sebring/Avenger manual).
So consider what sort of procedure/reader was used to get the 0700.
