Chrysler Repair: Trans leak requires control module replacement?, transmission control module, small claims court

Question
there was a leak in my car and was advised by the mechanic
to change transmission seal.  A month after i still see the
leak and now i'm told with the same mechanic place that the
transmission control module that is the problem and its
going to cost me 500 dollars to be fixed.

Answer
Hi Alexis,
There is no relationship between the control module and a trans fluid leak. They are physically separate and only connected by electrical wires. The module has no control over the fluid in the transmission or its leakage from the transmission.
It sounds like you are being taken advantage of by an unscrupulous mechanic. If you paid to have the leak repaired and it is still leaking you have a case of a failed repair job and you should get your money back. Failing that, go to small claims court for restitution. Keep adding trans fluid (but don't overfill) via the dipstick tube for the transmission until this is sorted out. Use only ATF+4 type fluid. Find a more honest shop to fix the leak.
