Chrysler Repair: 99 T&C starts, then dies in a second, alarm security system, door key

Question
I have been driving my van for a couple of months and all of a sudden I get in it today and it starts and then cuts off within 1 second.  It does that about 3 times and then it wont crank or make a sound.  The lights will come on but no sound or nothing.  I disconnected the battery for 1/2 day and tried reconnecting it when I did that the head lights started flashing so I hit the door key unlock and tried to start it again and its still dead.  can you help?
thanks

Answer
Hi Nan,
You are correct about it being related to the door lock as this sort of behavior is that exhibited when the alarm security system is still armed. It may be that the door lock wire connection on the driver side (if that is the door lock you used to enter) is disconnected/broken between the lock and the body computer.
I would try the other door: lock/unlock, and see if that cancels the alarm system. If you want to give up on the alarm system you can avoid using the power door locks, the door key lock, or the remote when you exit the van and instead merely use the mechanical interior push-button locks to close all the doors. That way the theft alarm system is never armed so you won't have this happen again.
If it still won't start after you try the lock/unlock on the other door, then open the hood, look inside the long narrow power distribution box next to the battery for fuse #28 (at the rear, maybe labelled 'IOD') and remove it for a few minutes and then put it back in and try again.
