how do you keep a harmonic balancer from moving while un bolting it, on a 1997 plymouth voyager 3.0L

The Haynes manual suggests three ways:
Put a towel around it and then use a chain wrench to grip it
Drill two hole in a piece of angle iron that are spaced like two adjacent holes that hold the pulley on, and then use bolts to attach the angle iron
Remove the drive plate cover at the rear of the engine and jam a large screwdriver between the ring gear and the bell housing to jam it.
