Chrysler Repair: 1989 C-body: Blower motor wont run, amp fuse, self diagnostics

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I have a 1989 New Yorker 3.0 the blower motor was not working at all. I have tried the self diagnostics motor still does not come on at anytime and no codes appear. I have power to the Fuse and I took out motor and have power to motor still motor wont come on. I tested the motor off the car and the motor works. When hooked back up it wont work.  Please help.

ANSWER: I assume that the fuse you are speaking of in #10, otherwise check that one. If the fuse is ok, then depending upon whether you have the conventional or the automatic temp control type of control panel will determine what is wrong. If the former, then it has to be the switch for the fan speed or a bad ground connection. If the latter, then it has to be a solid state stepped resisor in the control panel that is bad. Also I assume that if it is the conventional unit that the blower is not working on any speed including 'hi'. Let me know about the fuse/type of unit/ and whether it works on hi.

QUESTION: Hi Ronald,
Yes it was the #10 30 Amp Fuse it is okay. The control panel is automatic. And no the blower does not work at any speed

Answer
Hi Lucas,
The chances are you have a problem in the Control unit or the 'power module' part of the underdash housing. The control unit may tell us what it thinks is wrong via a self-test procedure. Go to
www.allpar.com/fix/codes_climate.html
and see what trouble codes appear on the readout. Then let me know.
