Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler solenoid pack replacement, solenoid pack, chrysler service

Question
The Chrysler service department told me it would cost roughly $1,000 to replace it. That sounds a bit steep of a repair, doesn't it?

Answer
Hi Ann,
It sure does. I would advise trying independent trans shops. The solenoid pack does not require that the transmission be removed to service it in most of the vehicles and so I can't believe the labor and part would be that much. By the way, did you get the 4-digit fault code number that was what led to this diagnosis. If not, and a readout was done (and you were charged for it) ask for the number(s) so we can see if that is the only solution for that code. Also tell me the model, body, and engine for reference.

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab to get back to me without having to wait for me to be 'available' to take a question. There is a space for comments to which I will reply. While there, if you would be so kind as to consider a 'yes' where it asks about a 'nomination' I would appreciate that.
