Chrysler Repair: 2002 Sebring Conv limited, home mechanic, transition period


Question
The vent to the floor will not open all fuses look good ?
Is replacing the solenoid on tranny doable for a home mechanic ? (2.7L Engine)

Hi Kevin,
My '03 manuals shows the "mode" door (which directs the air to various locations) is powered by a small actuator motor on the bottom of the HVAC console at the left end. You remove the underpad/silencer on the left side of the dash to get to it for removal and checking that the door moves (it mates with a fitting on the actuator, so note the positions of the two). You can observe whether it moves when you change the distribution position. I hope this applies to your '02, as this was a transition period for the Sebring convert.
By solenoid do you mean one of the internal solenoids? If so, then you do have to drop the pan to then remove that part of the trans, if you don't see a separate solenoid box on the side of the trans that faces the front of the car. That too is a transition period so you will need to look at the trans to see which type you have.
