Chrysler Repair: 01 T&C Speedometer needle on wrong side of pin, speedometer needle, trip odometer

Question
I have a 2001 Chrysler Town & country that the speedometer quit working on. When the switch is turned on the needle will jump up but not to zero and it does not move while the car is being driven. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Answer
Hi Jr,
It may be that the needle is stuck on the wrong side of the "0" pin. One way that may correct this is to do a self-diagnostic test of the cluster. With the ignition 'off', press and hold the trip odometer reset button until the letters 'sof' appears in the odometer window. then release the button. The unit will go through a set of self tests. If after all the tests the number 999 appears in the window the test is successfully completed. Let me know if a different number appears. And check to see if the needle has spun around to the other side of the pin and thus the speedometer works again.
