Chrysler Repair: Rear window defogger, chrysler concorde, 2000 chrysler concorde

Question
I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde that has a malfunctioning rear window defogger/defroster.  When pressing the defogger button, I can hear an audible beep and the light turns on, but nothing happens.  I have checked all fuses and wire connections.  Is there a relay or another hidden fuse that could cause this?

Answer
Hi Philip,
My latest manual is the '98 and it shows fuses 18 in the box under the hood, and fuse 15 in the fuse box behind the dash to be needed and there is a relay in that same box behind the dash, and the relay is located there too surrounded by fuses 11,12,13, and 18. Take a look and see if you find something like this to be the same in your 2000. The '99 LHS and 300M manual is different, in fact there is a relay but it is not obvious where it is, but I will keep looking and let you know. Exactly which is the setup for the 2000 Intrepid will have to be inferred from those two manuals. But there is a relay for sure...It may be labelled EBL (electric back light).

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab to get back to me. There is a space for comments, to which I will respond. I would appreciate a nomination for where you see the 'nomination?' tab. Thanks

PPS I found that in the '99 LHS/300M that the relay is described as being in the left side of the trunk and of "natural" color (but with no figure showing exactly where).
Another common cause of no defogger function is a poor/corroded/loose connection at either side of the window proper. So check there and also verify that you are or are not getting voltage across the connectors at either side of the window. The 12V side is on the driver's, and the ground side is on the passenger's side.
The main question is whether the '00 Concorde is set up as I described for the '98 model, or if by '00 the wiring that was used in the '99 LHS/300M was shared in the Concorde. So see if you see an EBL relay in the fuse box behind the dash and if not see if you can find one in the trunk with a wire that goes up to the driver side of the back window.
Thanks for your understanding and for considering a 'nomination' in my behalf.
