Chrysler Repair: Transmission Problems on 2000 T&C, independent shop, shop manuals

Hello..In the morning my car does not always go into reverse, when it does then it won't go into drive.  I have to put it back into park, wait a few minutes and then it will go into drive.  Also, once moving it will jump out of gear if we slow down or I put on the breaks.  Once I haven't driven it for awhile it seems to be fine.  I have checked the fluid levels and they are ok.  I fear I will need a new transmission.  The car has 120,000 mi.  Could you give me some advise?

Hi Robin,
The best thing to do is get a fault code readout of the powertrain computers. That will often be done for free at an Autozone parts store or for $40 at an independent shop. Ask for the specific 4-digit fault code numbers so we can look those up in the shop manuals.
