Chrysler Repair: Loud, repeated clicking noise in blower fan:99 Concorde, 1999 chrysler concorde, chrysler concorde

Question
I have a 1999 Chrysler Concorde, and like many others had the engine replaced a year ago.  Since I got my car back, I get a loud click, click, clicking noise when I turn the blower for heat or air completely off.  If I leave the fan in the off position, every time I start the car, it does the 10 seconds of loud, annoying clicking.  Also, if I turn from outside to recirculated it does the same thing.  I returned to the dealer the day after and explained that it didn't do it before I spent over 3 grand, but they said it had nothing to do with thier work in the engine (yeah, I also lost my after market remote start function too.) My solution is I always leave my fan on low speed to avoid more costs.  So my questions are: what is causing the noise? Do you think a tech could have bumped somthing to cause it? Is it a costly fix?  Thanks....til then I keep the heat or cool on.

Answer
Hi Abby,
The loud clicking sound is usually associated with an electical switch called a relay. There are a number of such relays behind the dash as well as in a box under the hood, on the driver's side, that is rectangular and has a lid you can remove. In order to solve the problem I need to know which relay is clicking, then I can try to figure out why.  It shouldn't be expensive to fix. Whether the problem resulted from the engine exchange remains to be determined.
If the clicking sounds like it comes from the dash, then open the door and remove the cap on the very end of the dash. Look inside and you will see the relays and fuses. By touch or sound identify which relay is clicking, note its number (or location if you don't see a number) and let me know. If it sounds like it is from under the hood, let me know the same information.
