Chrysler Repair: 98 Dodge Intrepid-heat/AC problem, circuit board assembly, dodge intrepid

Question
My daughter has a '98 Dodge Intrepid, 2.7 L V-6. About a year ago, the idler pulley broke while she and her husband were on an out-of-town trip. Eventually, sa they were travelling at night, the headlights eventually drained all the reserve power from the battery and everthing shut down, just as they made it to a service station. The station attendant saw that the belt was broken. The next day, he replaced the pulley, belt and battery, and the heating/ac system has never worked properly since. The blower switch on the left side of the control head still works, however, the temperature control switch in the center nor the heat/ac position switch work properly. In the winter, the heat comes out of the defroster vents only, and only if the position switch is on a dot in between positions, i.e. vents, floor, etc. In the summer, the AC does the same thing, however, it is either all hot or all cold. You can not control the temperature, nor the position. Also, the LED lights above the AC button and the rear defroster button do not light up, therefore, you cannot perform a diagnostic check. I have replaced the heater/ac control switch, however, it does not help. I feel like there may be a relay, fuseable link, etc. that is causing this problem. The larger group of wires that plug into the back of the head control nearest the driver appear to control the fan switch only. This side seems to be getting power and works properly. However, the smaller group of wires that plug into the smaller, white receptical does not appear to be providing power to the circuit board assembly. Do you have any suggestions as to what the problem may be. As I said, I feel like there is a direct connection with the power failure/battery replacement, as it has never worked since...Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Quentin

Answer
Hi Quentin,
I would check fuse 17 behind the dash and also verify that you have 12V on the white wire of the white plug when the ignition switch is in the run position. That is the supply to control. Also check the pin 3 of that plug is showing a good ground to the body.
Let me know what you find.
Sorry for the delay in answering. Your question just showed up in the "pool" this morning.

To get to the fuse, remove the cap on the left hand end of the dash (you have to open the driver door to get to it) and you will find the fuse box with numbered fuses therein.
