Chrysler Repair: Oil light on at idle, oil pressure sender, chrysler concorde

Question
Hey Roland,I have a1995 chrysler concorde that when I am at a stop light and idleling, the oil light comes on then goes off after accellerating.I was told it could either be the oil pump or the oil sensor,i hoping oil sensor.Where is it located at?And can i get to it with ease? Thanks,Dave.

Answer
Hi Dave,
The oil pressure sender is adjacent to the oil filter. You can test the pressure with a gauge that has the same thread as the sender and it should read 5 psi at idle or more. It may be, because the light goes out when you raise the rpm, that your pressure may be marginal due to wear. You can raise the pressure by increasing the weight of the oil one step at the next oil change and that may avoid replacing the sender entirely.
