Chrysler Repair: Transmission, 1995 Chrysler Cirrus, throttle position sensor, intake air temp

Question
Dear Roland,
I've read through some of the other transmission issues of the past and have a similar problem(mode) with different symptoms. Let me give you a briefing on the situation;
1. Check engine light is on from the moment I start the car.
2. Engine Runs Fine
3. Trouble code (using check engine light method)
3.1 "12" Battery disconnected within last 50 starts (yes)
3.2 "71" PCM output voltage low (I don't know how to remedy this)
3.3 "23" Intake air Temp voltage out of normal (test and replaced, verified new unit is within spec. but code still reads "23'
3.4 "33" AC Clutch relay circuit (Opened or Short) Checked for voltage at Relay OK, No voltage at Clutch Sensor even when I swapped relay.

I changed the fluid and filter but the transmission still stays in first gear. When I disconnect the battery The trans shifts out of first at the very beginning of test drive but within 30 seconds of forward movement shifts back down to first. It sometimes slips on acceleration from a stop. I cleaned all of the ground I could find Disconnect and reconnect sensors, PCM, Trans. Module but nothing I did seems to work.

What do think?

Sincerely, Ron

Answer
Hi Ron,
I would check the voltage on the violet/white wire at either the map or the throttle position sensor because the 71 code is specific to that being a 5 volt supply from pin #6 of the pcm. The iat code might be due to a open or short to ground on the black/red wire to pin 21 of the pcm, or the black/light blue not being attached to pin 4.
The trans is in "limp-in mode" which also will have codes, but you will need to do a plug-in to a reader on the data link connector under the dash to the right of the steering column to get them. They will also be 2-digit numbers that overlap with ecm codes, so be sure the code reader is capable of distinguishing if the codes are from the tcm or the ecm.
Let me know what you learn and we'll go from there.
Roland
