Chrysler Repair: 2000 cirrus turn signals dont work, check fuse, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: I am having a problem with my turning signals once they are turned on they don't flash. Could this be the flasher unit if so where is it located

thanks eric

ANSWER: Hi Eric,
Check fuses 6 and 8 in the power distribution box under the hood, and check fuse 15 in the fuse box under the dash. The flasher is located on the back side of the multifunction switch. You remove the steering column upper cover and then look for a black relay that unplugs. There is a multi-step (10) procedure for getting the cover off, so let me know if the fuses are OK and I can tell you how to get to the flasher unit.

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab to get back to me if necessary, without having to wait for me to be 'available' to take a question.

The fuse box is just behind the radiator on the left side, it is rectangular and has one arrow -> on each end. It is sandwiched between the engine and the transmission computers, for reference.
Thanks for the evaluation and nomination, Eric.

QUESTION: fuses are fine and i replaced the flasher worked for a short while but back to the same problem

Answer
Hi Eric,
Have you rechecked the fuses? And can you tell me what you mean by "worked for short while": did it stop while it was running, or did it work a few times and then next time it wouldn't work or? I assume that you took the cover off the steering column and replaced the flasher on the back side of the multi-function switch.

fuse 6 was blown when it stopped working replaced fuse and nothing works after with new flasher, put the old flasher back in and back to the same problem. The signal light stays solid either way R/l sometimes flashes but not for long.

Hi Eric,
OK, so sometimes the right turn signal works but not for long, and nothing on the left side. For the signals to blink at all four corners all the filaments must be working with none blown out.
Try the emergency flasher function and see if all the bulbs at the four corners illuminate.
For them to flash also the ground wires for each of the corners has to be clean and tight:
The left front ground is at the left strut tower under the hood
The right front ground is at the right strut tower under the hood
The left and right rear bulbs are grounded at the center of the trunk lid opening's bottom edge.
The flasher itself has a ground point at the panel just in front of the driver side door opening, maybe about a foot off the floor or so. It may be hidden by the trim panel, so check that too.
Both all the filaments and all the grounds have to be working or the current necessary to operate the flasher on and off will not be created.
Another, possiblity is that the contacts inside the multifunction switch are corroded/dirty which reduces the current flow. Spray some electronic contact cleaner on those contact points in the multi-function switch.
I believe the problem is due to one or more of the above items.
If you write back with the results of these efforts, let me know if the hazard flasher set up works (do all bulbs flash?). There are a few splices and plugs in the circuit which would be a possible cause but let's not get into those yet.
Thanks for the kind evaluation and nomination.
