Chrysler Repair: 97 Grand Voyager camshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, pulley bolt

Question
Hi Roland,
Thanks for taking my question. Here's the situation. I'm not getting any spark at the spark plugs and a quick computer code check using the 3 X ignition key on and off method yielded code 54. It appears the camshaft sensor on my 3.3L engine is bad. I replaced it about 8 months ago. Seems strange it would go out so soon, so I'd like to test it first. Can you tell me what the resistance values of the sensor should be, or another easy sure fire test to verify this?  Thanks  Leo

Answer
Hi Leo,
The way to test it is to probe the signal wire (tan/yellow) and the ground wire (black/light blue). Then turn the ignition 'on' and crank the engine by hand via the crank pulley bolt. Watch for the voltage to pulse between 5V and 0.3V several times per revolution. The orange wire should have 8V on it.
