Land Rover Repair: Air suspension, old rover, conversion kit

Question
I have a leak in the manual air suspension valve of my 2000 range rover and cannot find the part. It is similar to the valve stem of the tire (in brass) and I can feel the air coming out when I try to fill the rear air bags. The small screw inside the valve is moving all around and the front valve is stationary? Can you help? They want me to tow and state "it is probably the valve block, starting at $1600 cannot afford that, have to junk the car and it is my one and only. Thanks, Chris

Answer
Air suspension failures are really the bane of these older Rovers.  I suggest you convert the truck to coil springs, which will put an end to air suspension problems forever.  The trouble with fixing the vehicle now is that there are dozens of other air suspension parts to fail as soon as you swap this one.  You can buy a conversion kit from Atlantic British.

At Robison Service, conversion is about $1600 parts and labor.  In your message you stated you can't afford that, but conversion is certainly cheaper that EAS repair, and these kinds of costs go with an old Rover.

Sorry I do not have a less expensive answer.
