Chrysler Repair: 98 sebring coupe:no start, no power to ignition circuit, sebring coupe, inner fender

Question
i have a 98 sebring coupe lxi 2.5L  it wont start.  all fuses are good. all relays seem to be good.  the lights, horn, radio, power windows and locks all work. but i have no spark and no fuel.  the fuel pump does not come on  and there is no power to the electrical connector for the distributor or any of the sensors.  at the ignition switch, the bl/bk wire has no power. also pin 4  and 9 on the pcm has no power. in addition when i turn the ignition on the check engine light does not come on.  hope  you can help.  thanks in advance

Answer
Hi Eric,
There are eight fusible links in the relay box under the hood next to the left inner fender. They are at the in-board side of the box, along with three regular fuses. The fusible link #5 has a pink housing color, and link itself is white and carries up to 30 amp. I would believe that link is blown or that your ignition switch has failed. The white wire from the link arrives at the ignition switch on a white wire on pin 1. So check the link and check the wire at the ignition switch as both should show 12V at all times. If it is blown then we'll have to do some resistance readings to find out why it is blown.

thank you for your rapid reply. thats exactly wat i thought, i know the pink fusible link that you are refering to, but i dont know where the white link itself is, can you please direct me as to where it is, thank you agai

Hi Eric,
I haven't personally dealt with that type of link, but I picture it as being wired right there in the relay box at that point. Usually fusible links are not designed to be easily exchanged out because they are not expected to be blown. The pink part Is the link*, I believe, while the wire attached to the end of the link has white insulation all the way to the ignition switch. There appears to be one single pin connector somewhere along the white wire, so see if you can find that and check whether it might be "open".

*There are three other pink links that also handle 30 amps, the other links handle different amounts of current.
