Chrysler Repair: Dodge Dynasty (91) headlamps, taillights, dashlights, not working contin...., infinite ohms, dodge dynasty

Question
Roland.

Mark again!  Did you mean the headlamp switch?  Or, the ignition switch?  Turning the headlight switch to intensify/dim the dash lights works fine, as long as the headlamp switch is partially pulled out. (in between the point where the tail/parking/dash lights come on, and the off position.)  But, as soon as you pull the switch all the way out, they go out, and the headlamps come on.  The exact same way as the original headlamp switch, which has been replaced.  About the car:  It's an american model, headlamps not covered (no motor, cover, etc.) And, it has the V6. So, what should I do?  can you email me the wiring diagrams for my vehicle?  Better yet, come to TX, and walk me through this thing.

you can reach me at markmunoz@hotmail.com

Answer
Hi Mark,
I meant the headlamp switch, pardon me. I can xerox and postal mail you a couple of pages that show the circuit. According to the drawing, the internal contacts inside the switch are supposed to provide power to the black/yellow wire in both the park and the headlamp position. That is why I can't imagine how those missing lights have lost their power source. I suspect a design flaw inside the switch. Try pulling the plug off the headlamp switch. Measure the continuity (or the resistance) between the pins labelled B2 and R. That should be 0 ohms (continuous) in both of the 'on' positions and of course infinite ohms in the off position. If otherwise, then there is a wiring problem of some very strange sort. I will email you so you can send me back a postal address, buy please check the switch before I go to the trouble of copying and mailing.
