Chrysler Repair: 99 300M cuts off while driving, interuptions, autozone

Question
Totally random, simply cuts off while driving, sometimes while sitting at light.  No codes.  Took it to a garage and they ran extensive diagnostics, with no results.  Tapped on cam and crankshaft sensors - no effect.  No other electrical interuptions.  Sometimes will cut off and cut back on without my having to take it out of gear and cranking it.  Sometimes have to pull over and, after 3-6 tries, it will crank like nothing was ever wrong.  Happens a couple times every day, round about town.  Haven't had it on a road trip, since it started doing this about a month ago.

Answer
Hi Sam,
It almost sounds like the ignition switch is getting flaky. Try jiggling the key to see if you can induce the behavior while you are idling it, and tap on the other side of the column from the key, which is closer to the switch. Otherwise it could be a weakened sensor that hasn't reached the point of setting a fault code. You may have to wait a bit longer for it to set a code or last long enough/reproducibly to get it to do fail on demand at a shop so that the circuits involved can be sleuthed. You can seek a free code readout at an Autozone parts store if there is one nearby until things clarify.
