Question
I was driving when my viechle just turned off after looking and trying to figure out was was wrong I eralized that one of the relays were clicking on and eight back off it was the fuel pump relay I changed it and it is still doing the same thing click on and eight back off the fuel pump can be heard but it seems that its not getting has the engine will not turn over

Answer
Hi Krista,
If you mean that the relay clicks on and off just once when you turn the ignition switch to the 'run' position (before you try the 'start' position) then that is normal. When you try the start position it should click 'on' again and remain 'on' until you release the key from the start position (though you may not hear it above the noise of the starter motor). If you mean it just sits there and clicks continuously when it is in the 'run' position then that is wrong. So let me know which it is.
In the meantime, I would suggest that you try the ignition key approach to getting a fault code readout from the engine controller's memory. Such a code will be the best clue as to what is the problem. Turn the key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less. By "on" I mean the "run" position. Then watch the check engine light, which remains "on", to begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause, then repeat to be sure you get the same set of count numbers. Then write back and tell me the count numbers in the order that they appeared.
Use the "thank/rate" tab below to reply as that way you won't have to wait for me to be "available". Use the comments section to give me the information. Also mention which engine you have: 2.5 4 cyl, 3.0L 6 cyl, or 3.3L 6 cyl.  I suspect that one of your engine position sensors has deteriorated, but the codes will tell us if that is true, and which one.
