Chrysler Repair: 1998 300M engine stall problem, question pool, engine stall

Question
I have read several articles about 300M stalling. My car i had a similar problem where my engine all of a sudden started losing power and stalled. The problem happened for 10 mins until the engine finally stalled and wouldn't start. I left the car for a couple of hours then tried again and it worked but the problem persisted. At first i thought it was the fuel pump but after it was replaced the problem persisted. They are still trying to figure out the problem.

Answer
Hi Mohamed,
If the engine starts, runs for some number of minutes, then loses power and finally dies and won't start, but then after a period of minutes to an hour will start again and go thru the same behavior, then I would suspect that one of the two sensors that is needed to time the spark and the fuel injectors is going bad. These are called the 'cam  and the 'crank' sensors. I would get a fault code readout of the engine controller because it probably has a 4-digit number (code) stored in its memory that will tell us what is wrong. Let me know and we can go from there. Sorry to be slow in responding, the question just appeared in the question "pool" so I couldn't know about your problem till just now. An independent shop will do a readout for about $40, or an Autozone parts store will do it often for free.
