Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Sebring Knock After Warmup, oil pressure gauge, class action lawsuits

Question
2001 Sebring 2.7 94,000miles.  After the engine is warm, a knocking sound appears.  No knocks at startup or during warmup, just after it has warmed up.  Just purchased vehicle and changed oil to the spec 5w/30.  What might be causing this, hopefully not a connecting rod.  Would "thicker" viscosity oil help?

Answer
Hi Randy,
I am aware that there were problems of some sort with the 2.7L engine with regard to the lubrication system during the early years of its production but I don't know the specific areas of the engine that were affected. You might try a search for any recalls or class-action lawsuits to see if your engine might be covered. Other than that, increasing the weight will increase the oil pressure which may improve the oil distribution throughout the engine, so why not try 20W-40 which should be as far as I would go to increased viscosity. How does the oil pressure gauge read when it's hot?
Let me know if you learn something from the search, and how the oil change impacts things.
