Chrysler Repair: Sebring: turn signal flashing spontaneously, chrysler sebring, postal mail

Question
I have a 1997 chrysler sebring and the front and rear turn signal lights (all four) start flashing as soon as the door (driver or passenger)is opened and shut. this goes on for 65 times each time then quits.I locked and unlocked both doors with the key to disarm the alarm , but it did not help.
the keyless entery has stopped working, the battery is good.I hope you have some tips for me to try to fix this problem.
Thank You

Answer
Hi Curt,
I have the '98 Sebring convert manual (I assume this is the convert, otherwise please let me know and I'll check the sedan manual) and find that the turn signal flashings are not associated with the theft system but rather with the hazard warning system. That would mean that the issue is confined to the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch, or the combination flasher unit mounted nearby. You need to remove the upper steering column cover to gain access to those two devices for testing or replacement. There are 5 pages that discuss the system which I could xerox and postal mail to you. Use the "thank and rate" tab where you will find a comments section to enter that address. Either the hazard switch is making contact spontaneously in the "on" position or the combo flasher is spontaneously turning itself "on". You could try working the hazard switch on and off for a few cycles to see if that clears the problem. Again, let me know if this is a sedan instead of the convertible because these have different wiring.
