Chrysler Repair: 95 Lebaron Interior Lights dont work, door switches, work question

Question
QUESTION: Hi Roland, on a '95 laberon convertible, I'm getting no interior lights.  I've checked the fuse and it's fine.  I've also checked the bulbs and they are good, the wires going to the door lights have no power when the lights should be on.  any idea where else I can check?  BCM Perhaps?  Thanks -Paul

ANSWER: Hi Paul,
The power for the lamps comes from fuse #13 under the dash, and that gets its power from the fuse #47 (20 amp) in the distribution box under the hood, so check that one too. If you have power coming out of both those fuses then you are correct that the grounding of the lamps is via the body computer. That occurs via pin 25 of the black plug (yellow wire). If that is not being grounded, then the lights won't work.

QUESTION: Thanks Roland, I appreciate all of your help.  Upon further checking of the door lights, I have power coming to both wires on the door lights, I've checked the fuses and they are good and both have power. Does that still sound like a ground issue at the BCM?

Answer
Yes,
You are seeing that there is power to the bulbs, and that of course means that power will be present on the other side of each bulb, but there is no ground path for current to flow. That means the yellow wire is not being grounded by the body computer. But why that is has to be determined. The actual ground goes to the computer on the yellow and then from the computer it goes on a white wire from pin 16 and thru the door switches to ground on a black wire that ties in to the grounds on the right and left side cowl panels (area in front of the door opening) near the door switches. The body computer is involved so that either the door switch or the headlamp courtesy switch can close the loop to the grounds. So see what the voltages are at pin 25 and pin 16 when you open the doors, or turn on the courtesy light switch.
