Question
The headlamp doors work intermittently. Is there a relay in the circuit?  Any ideas why they do this?

Answer
Hi Barb,
There are two general possibilities: mechanically that the gears that connect the motor to door movement rod are beginning to get loose (which would be evidenced by the sound of the door motor working but the doors themselves not moving properly), and second that the issue is electrical and the motor is not responding to the headlamp switch positioning due to a fauly electrical module.
So listen for the sound, and watch the door motion to determine which is the cause. The former can be corrected by putting new bushings in the motor mechanism, the latter can be corrected by replacing the "headlamp control module" which is a single unit that has three built-in relays that is mounted on the left side of the steering column and has a rectangular black plug with 10 pins (5 in 2 rows).
The former bushings are sold on the internet, and the latter may be available from a Chrysler dealer.
