Chrysler Repair: remote auto lock and alarm:98 Sebring, fuse box, door keys

Question
QUESTION: My auto remote for locking the doors and setting the alarm had broken and I had to take my negative wire off the car so that the alarm would stop.  Is there anyway to fix this problem.  Hoping to diengage alarm system.  Is that possible?

ANSWER: Hi Peggy,
I believe we can solve this but I need to know the year and model of Chrysler-made vehicle that you own. Use the "thank and rate" tab to get back to me with that info using the comments section to enter the info. I will get an alert and send you back a follow-up answer. First try simply using the door key to lock then unlock either the driver door or the passenger door AFTER you re-hook up the battery. That should stop the alarm no matter what the year and model. If not, then we'll have to figure out how to get around that issue and to disengage the alarm.

QUESTION: The car is a 1998 sebring convertible

Answer
Hi Peggy,
Try hooking up the battery, then try to kill the alarm by lock..unlock the driver door and if that doesn't work try the passenger door. If that doesn't work then pull fuse #5 from the under the dash fuse box and leave the fuse out for about half an hour then put it in and see if that has cancelled the alarm. If that doesn't work then I will tell you how to fake out the alarm system to disarm it but that requires a little more dis-assembly. The only way to permanently defeat the system is to never arm it, which means only use the manual push buttons in the door to lock it by hand. Don't use the power door locks, the door keys, or the remote to lock it. The theft system is part of the body computer so you can't just remove it.
