Chrysler Repair: noisy tappet, motor oil additive, plymouth breeze

Question
have 99 plymouth breeze w/noisy tappit.   Is there a way to adjust the lifter to mitigate the issue or do I have to replace the lifter?

Answer
Hi Bernie,
You might have some dirt in the lifter preventing the oil pressure to build up inside of it and which could possibly clear by means of a motor oil additive put it the crankcase shorly before your next oil change. Check out the various products for this purpose and follow the directions. Even changing the oil by itself will often do the trick, but if this sounds like a single loud tappet the additive might be the prudent approach. Then if that doestn't do it a change of the lifter may be the only solution. Let me know which engine, for specifics should that be necessary.
