Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Sebring 2000 Condensation Leak?, chrysler sebring, radiator hose

Question
Read your thread about the heater core..Something is rattling down there (under passenger dash) and now passenger side is soaked..(this isnt due to rain/clogged underside plugs)  recently had to replace blower motor sensor..could it be a lose hose?  heh heh one can only hope??!!

Answer
Hi Kathy,
If the fluid has the odor of the coolant in the overflow bottle under the hood, then it is a cooling system leak in the cabin. The heater core connections to the cooling system occur on the engine compartment side of the fire wall, so a loose hose fitting at that point would likely leak majorly on that side of the firewall, not the cabin. So unless there is something unusual going on I would suspect that the heater core is leaking. You could check the radiator hose fittings at the firewall on the engine compartment side and if those are tight, then you have to conclufe it is the heater core.
Regardless of whether you have the sedan or the convertible the core can be replaced without removing the entire unit from under the dash, but there is a good bit of dash that has to be disassembled in either case.
If you can do without heat for the summer/fall you could disconnect the hoses from the core, connect the ends together and thus by-pass the leak until the winter.
