Chrysler Repair: 96 town & country: code 0303, spark plug wire, coil pack

Question
I have backfiring, hesitation, check engine light is on. Code reads 0300, 0303 #3 cyl. misfiring. How can  I test the coil? JIM 96 t&c 3.8 v-6

Answer
Hi Jim,
I would disconnect the plug at the coil pack. Then measure the resistance between the pack pin that was connected to the dark green/orange wire, and each of the other 3 pins. The resistances should be less than 2 ohms and approximately equal.
The other thing to check is the spark plug wire to the #3 cylinder. You might try spraying some finely misted water from a spray bottle on the wire harness to observe for arcing (doing this in the dark). Those are the electrical tests that are most likely to show a secondary problem. Otherwise, check the compression of the cylinder, and other mechanical possibilities I can mention later.
