Chrysler Repair: NEON 98 UK REMOTE ISSUE & FAN, solid state relay, door locks

Question
My remote is near the end of its useful life and I understand that Chrsyler no longer stocking them. I further understand that I could run the car without the immobiliser. A couple of questions - can I actually run the car without the remote at all and how do I immobilise the immobiliser?

I have an issue with the fan and I need a wiring diagram - where do you sggest i try.

Answer
Hi Pete,
I don't have the '98 manual but the '97 did not have an immobilizer nor a body computer. If yours doesn't have a body computer but does have a separate immobilizer module then I believe you could simply unplug it and be done with it, but the trick is to start the engine and have it running when you pull the plug. That is the only way to avoid a 'hard' lock out of the engine. It might be located above the glove box or under the dash if it is similar to the '90-95 set up before the onset of the body computer. That computer became the center for the immobilizer which thus made it impossible to remove. So that is the key issue. To avoid the immobilizer you can refrain from using the remote and also refrain from using the key or the power door lock if you have that. Rather only secure the door by pushing down the mechanical door locks when you leave.
On the fan, it is a simple circuit involving a solid state relay and I can tell you or send you the 1 page from the '97 manual. Let me know what is the specific issue.
