Chrysler Repair: 1991 Chrysler 5th Ave. Security system issue, door keys, light flashes

Question
Hi Roland. I have a 91 5th Ave and when I connect the Battery, immediately the Hazzards flash along with the side markers and radio lights. The alarm light flashes also. I traced the sound to the blinker relay and unplugged it. but the Black box marked security alarm next to the remote entry box was clicking as well. so I unplugged that and everything stopped blinking. Is it possible to bypass? May it be the Security box or something crossed. I have no turn signals when unplugged. Thank you

Answer
Hi Eric,
Disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery sets off the alarm. You have to disarm the system by having it all reconnected, then lock/unlock either front door to turn off the alarmed state. I am concerned though that you disconnected the security alarm module, which is another no-no. The only safe way to disconnect the security system is to unplug that module ONLY WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. There is a way to do a self-diagnostic test of the system to identify if there is a problem with it, which I can tell you about if things are screwed up. But for now, try putting everything back together. Then lock/unlock a door with the key, either one or try both; then we can sort out the issues. If you want to avoid the issue in the future then either disconnect it as described above, or never lock the car door except by means of the hand-operated push-buttons (no door keys, no power door locks, no remote keyless)
