Chrysler Repair: AC HEATER malfunction: LH (Concorde) 93, automatic temperature control, temperature control unit

Question
QUESTION: I have a 93 Concorde, all of the sudden the heater fan comes on and runs.  None of the buttons work. Won't shut off etc.  I just put 800.00 (single mom still owe the mechanic 200.)When I shut the car off, it is ok for a minute, then it starts blowing heat. When I started it this a.m. everything was blinking and clicking, then it stopped.

ANSWER: Hi Tricia,
If you want to temporarily stop the blower while you sort this problem out simply remove the fuse #21 from the fuse panel behind the dash (remove cap on left hand end of dash after opening the driver door for access). The entire heat/ac panel can also be shut off by removing fuse $6, but that will also turn off the back-up lights.
If you will give a further report as to whether this is or is not an automatic temperature control unit (has a digital temp readout?) and how it is behaving after the blower fuse is removed I may be able to give you some direction. But at least pulling the #21 fuse will prevent the battery from running down.
When you remove fuse #6, if you do so, see if it might have a subtle crack in its internal conducting wire that would cause it to open/close unpredictably.

QUESTION: Follow up…I was called out of state, my Dad passed away. Thank you for your help thus far.  It is an automated temp control with the display.  Ironically, before this started, the “time” did not show all the time, only when I turned on the radio could I see the time…Now the time displays.  I did remove the 21 fuse, I hear a clicking noise, and every thing flashes (including the outside flashers).  THEN if I push in the small switch (to the right of where my leg is)  there are two, if press and hold the lower one, it stops clicking, and the flashing on and off stops!   Please help if you can.  Thanks again, Tricia

ANSWER: Hi Tricia,
I am sorry to learn of your father's death. I hope he passed peacefully.
OK, back to the blower motor. Fuse #21 only provides power to the blower, so I presume when you took it out that stopped running, and that when you put it back in it started running uncontroably?
As for what is now the situation: can you tell me exactly what is clicking (where the sound is coming from) and what is flashing (tell me all the lights/displays that are involved. I don't picture also what are the two small switches that are under the dash to the right of your leg. Is there and label on the switch module or anything in the instrustion manual? Could this be something related to the emergency flasher function? But that is supposed to be controlled from the turn signal switch on the steering column. Could this be a modification done by a previous owner or?

QUESTION: Hi Roland, you have advised on this b4.  I did remove the fuse, and the fan/blower quit, obviously, but, I had to put it back in today, and it is blowing out hot air, full blast.  I can’t shut it off at all.  None of the ac/circulate…buttons work.
Re: the flashing of everything.  The “switches” by the floor are after market alarm.   I read the book, and did not get any answers on this problem.  When the flashing and clicking occurs though, when I hold in the alarm switch at least that stops.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks! Tricia

Answer
Hi Tricia,
Which fuse did you put back in? #21 just operates the blower, so you should be able to 'kill' that if you don't want the heat and have everything else work. If fuse #6 is not faulty, then I would have to think that the ATC control unit itself is bad.  You do need a good fuse #6 (as I explained it also runs the back-up lights, so if those work the fuse is ok). You can probably get a control unit at a wrecking yard, and pulling out yourself is good practice before you remove yours.
On the aftermarket alarm, I have no idea what to say without wiring diagram and instruction manual.
