Chrysler Repair: dodge van door locks, 2005 dodge caravan, dodge caravan

Question
2005 dodge caravan van. door locks stopped working. No attempt with door switch or key will make the doors lock, with exception of rear door. Autolock at 20 mph doesn't work either. I took negative cable off battery. Locks work again for a few times, then stop again.

Hi Chuck,
One possibility for the door lock failure is that the body control module may have detected that one of the door lock motors is drawing too much current because the lock mechanism it is trying to open or close may be balky. It is described therefore as a self-defense response.  You could try lubricating the lock mechanisms on all the doors and see if this theory is correct. It was shared by another reader of this category of auto repair.
