Chrysler Repair: 1999 town and country ignition cylinder, key cylinder, lock cylinder

Question
key will not turn in ignition .how do I change lock cylinder?

Answer
Hi Vinny,
Disconnect the battery.
You need to remove the column cover that is under the steering wheel (several screws) and the parking brake release cable from the release handle. Then remove the lower shroud around the key cylinder/ignition switch area by removing the screws.
Now unfortunately you have to be able to put the switch in the "run" position to get the cylinder out. So fiddle with that until it gets to that run position. Then notice there is a tab on side of the lock cylinder housing on the underside of that housing. If you push in on that tab and pull out on the key the cylinder will come out of the housing. You leave the ignition switch in the "run" position and then when you want to reinstall the cylinder you put it back in at exactly the same "run" position that it was in when you pulled out so that the shaft on the end will engage with the ignition switch. Once you have reinserted all the way and the tab has popped out again, turn the key to off and remove the key. Then put on the lower shroud, the steering lower column cover and reconnect the battery.
