Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler Concorde LX Wont Start, 4 digit numbers, chrysler concorde

Question
Well yesterday I woke up got in my car and it started with no problem. Came back from running around and later went to start my car and it would not start. My horn honked all the lights worked, the radio came on, etc. But the car would not turn over. My battery is just about 3 months and the starter about 2 months. Prior to yesterday afternoon I had no problems with it starting. I was told it may be the igintion fuse but changed that and it was unsucessfull as well. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Mnoica,
By won't start/won't turn over do you mean the starter motor won't crank the engine or that it will but that the engine won't fire up?
If it is the starter motor that won't function I would begin by trying to shift the gear selector slightly off the detent position of Park or Neutral just in case the adjustment of the safety switch that prevents the starter action is out of adjustment. If that doesn't help, then I would open the hood and check to see when a helper tries to start it you hear a soft click sound from the starter relay which is located in the power box under the hood. If you do, then the safety switch and ignition switch are OK and then you have to consider the possibility that the starter relay may have burned internal points, or the battery cables aren't tightly connected to the battery, or the battery has partially failed/discharged. That requires some testing/manipulating so let me know if you have the interest/tools for those sorts of things.
It the starter motor works, then I would try to see if you have any fault codes stored in the engine computer. Turn the ignition key:"0n-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that is 5 seconds or less. Then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage is replaced by any 4-digit numbers which would be clues as to why it won't start. Let me know or go to www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html for a code listhing.
